About First in Phoenix Pet Urns

No two urns are alike All the pet urns are made from one of nature’s oldest natural containers (the gourd). For centuries the gourd has been used for drinking vessels, musical instruments, art objects, and yes, for Urns.

Although each gourd is unique, they can be categorized into groups with similar characteristics.
Common GOURD SHAPES are:

The samples in these pages will introduce you to sizes, shapes, and styles. When you order an urn, you will need to indicate if it is for a small, medium, or large pet.

URN TYPES are as follows

  1. finished urn
  2. urn with base plate (see detail below)
  3. urn with base plate with picture frame (H) horizontal or (V) vertical (4' x 3")
  4. urn with base plate with picture decoupaged on the urn. (will need a good picture of your pet - Allow two weeks + or – )

Example:
Urn Type: C3H
C = gourd shape is bottleneck
3 = urn type is with a base plate and HORIZONTAL picture frame (H).

All urns are sealed with six coats of clear lacquer finish
All urns are filled from the bottom. A threaded wooden sleeve inserted in the gourd holds a wooden screw. The wooden screw is turned with a separate key to seal the urn. (see detail below - Click on diagram to see a larger picture.)

The crosscut view shows the unique construction of the urn. The wooden screw in the bottom is screwed in with a separate key. The second diagram is a "blown up" view of the key and the bottom view of the wooden screw plug.
